“Hair transplantation is performed under local anesthesia. After the brief discomfort caused by the lidocaine injection, the procedure itself is completely pain-free. Once the effect of the anesthesia wears off, patients may experience a slight tightness or burning sensation in the treated areas involved in the transplantation. To help relieve this, we also provide pain medication, which minimizes any discomfort.”

“During a hair transplant procedure, the hair follicles undergo temporary trauma, which is why the transplanted hairs may fall out 2–3 weeks after the treatment. This is a natural process, although it does not occur in every patient. New hair growth typically begins after 3–4 months, while the final results become visible after approximately 1 year.”

“In the morning, we meet at the clinic at 7:30 AM. After a consultation and assessment, the hair is trimmed, and the procedure begins. The process starts with the extraction of the hair grafts, during which patients lie on their stomach while we work on the back of the head. This is followed by the implantation phase. During this part, patients can sit in a more comfortable reclined position, and they even have the opportunity to watch movies. The only exception is implantation into the crown area, which—similarly to the extraction phase—is performed while lying on the stomach. Lunch is provided on-site during an approximately 30-minute lunch break, and we also take breaks every 1.5–2 hours or whenever requested by the patient. Depending on the number of grafts to be transplanted, the procedure is usually completed between 2 PM and 5 PM. Patients are informed about the expected finishing time during the lunch break.”

“After a hair transplant, we recommend that our patients rest for 1 week. This is the most sensitive phase of the healing process, during which the transplanted area should not be touched, washed, or covered with a hat or cap. Swelling around the forehead area may occur around the 2nd or 3rd day after the procedure. This is caused by the anesthetic solution used during the treatment and usually disappears within a few days. Patients can generally return to sports activities and physical work approximately 2–3 weeks after the procedure.”

“Hair transplantation is performed on the upper areas of the scalp, including the crown and the frontal hairline area above the forehead. This is referred to as the recipient area, where the hair has typically already thinned or fallen out. For every patient, the procedure is carried out according to a personalized treatment plan discussed and agreed upon in advance.”

“The hair grafts are extracted from the back of the head. In cases requiring a larger number of grafts, the donor area may extend from ear to ear. It is important to know that since the hair follicles are removed together with the hairs, new hair will not grow back in those exact extraction points within the donor area. However, thanks to our precise instruments and techniques, no visible scarring will remain afterward.”

“A hair transplant procedure can be performed either in one or two days. A one-day procedure is generally suitable for covering an area up to the size of one palm, while a two-day procedure can cover up to approximately two palm-sized areas. This may vary depending on the quality of the hair, the size of the available donor area, the current level of hair thinning in the recipient area, and the density at which the grafts are implanted. Our main goal is to ensure that our patients are satisfied with the results of the hair transplant and feel more confident afterward.”

“The method we use most frequently is the S.H.E. technique, during which grafts are extracted individually using special instruments with needles measuring only 0.7–0.8 millimeters in diameter. Thanks to these ultra-thin needles, the donor area heals more quickly and with a more aesthetic result. The healing process of the donor area typically takes around 4–10 days, while the transplanted area usually heals completely within 6–12 days without scarring.”

“To achieve the best possible results, certain foods and drinks should be avoided before the hair transplant procedure. These include alcohol, caffeinated beverages, as well as very spicy and heavily seasoned foods. In the case of regularly taken medications or vitamins, the hair transplant is always carried out only after prior consultation and assessment. The only thing our patients need to do the evening before the procedure is wash their hair thoroughly. There is no need to cut the hair at home, as this will be done at the clinic.”

“The hair in the donor area — where the grafts are extracted from — must always be cut short, as the instruments used during the hair transplant procedure cannot be used on hair longer than 1–2 millimeters. However, on the recipient area where the grafts are implanted, it is not always necessary to cut the hair short, since we are also able to implant grafts between longer existing hairs.”

“Hair transplantation can be performed regardless of the season. However, it is important to avoid extreme cold and heat after the procedure, and the transplanted area should also be protected from direct sunlight. This can be achieved by avoiding sun exposure, wearing a cap or hat after the first week, and using sunscreen when necessary.”

“At the end of the hair transplant procedure, our patients receive a comprehensive care package containing everything needed for proper aftercare. The package includes antibiotics, pain relievers, a pillow protector, a special shampoo to be used after the procedure, a moisturizing treatment for the donor area, a saline solution for the transplanted area, as well as a detailed day-by-day guide explaining the post-treatment care instructions. We also go through all aftercare steps in detail on the day of the procedure to ensure that our patients leave without any unanswered questions.”

“A single graft can contain one, two, or even three to five hairs. On average, however, one graft typically contains 2–3 hairs, so we usually calculate with an average multiplier of 2.5. For example, 1,000 grafts correspond to approximately 2,500 hairs.”

“Hair transplantation between long hair is especially popular among our female patients. In such cases, the hair can be trimmed in two different ways. One option is creating an approximately 8×10 cm ‘window’ at the back of the head, which remains covered by the surrounding long hair from all sides. The other option is trimming the donor area from the lower section upward, approximately to the level of the ears. In this case, the donor area is covered only by the longer hair from above. However, we do not extract hair from the lower 2–3 cm section; grafts are taken only from the area above it, where the hair is typically stronger and thicker.”
